The Motor City is, perhaps, the only large city in the country with groups of the beautiful, non-native fowl running around its fields and lots.
"They Are Striking"
And delicious!
Development and mowed lawns will not be a problem. Lmmao
Once there were parking lots
Now it's a peaceful oasis
You've got it, you've got it
… This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
You got it, you got it
… I miss the honky tonks,
Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
You got it, you got it
… And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention
You got it, you got it
oh my gosh Flint used to be full of them. I haven't seen one since the late 80s. So good to know.
We used to chase the pheasants in Mt. Olivet cemetery near city airport as kids. Easy to track them in winter with snow on the ground.
Used to see them all over the Philadelphia surrounding area. Not any more. Even in the outlying woodlands, not a Ring-Neck to be found. I am talking about 40 years ago but still wonder why they left. Good work with the video. Just plain old good work. Thanks.
I got robbed by two roosters back in 14 ...it was scary
These birds are truly a thing of beauty. I lived in an area on the east side of the city between Mack Ave to the east, Gratiot Ave to the west, Mt. Elliot to the south and E. Grand Blvd to the north. Pheasants were always around. Every morning I'd wake up to them squawking in the alley behind my house. There were quite a few empty lots that had overgrown grass, bushes and whatnot, so it was no wonder why they stuck around. Stray cats would try to chase them, but they lost out everytime 😂 I'd like the city to keep them. The only major American city with an obvious Pheasant population is really something unique. Thanks for talking about it, guys!
If the Detroit Future City strategic plan for the reimagining/rezoning of its large 139 square mile area is any indication (which, among other things, reverts large parts of the city to fallow and village-like density), I think the pheasants may continue to have a place 😊

Thank you for an interesting clip abt Detroit’s pheasants! Maybe they were farmed locally prior to Detroit’s demise /recovery? Or could they be related to the pheasants in Europe & UK.. which arrived via the Silk Road.
I hope the company meets their demands.
Was in Detroit for a high school thing years ago and saw one and I thought it was a roadrunner or something(very southern of me). Everyone thought I was straight tripping
Awesome. Beautiful birds! (We have a whole lot of them here in Denmark).
I would expect a pheasant from Detroit to be packin' a 9
