Through 30 years, eight albums and 27 members, Pacific reggae band Herbs have remained vital, described in one edition of the Who's Who of Australian Rock as "New Zealand's most soulful, heartfelt and consistent contemporary musical voice". Pacific Islanders Toni Fonoti (vocals), Spencer Fusimalohi (guitar) and Fred Faleauto (drums) formed Back Yard in the mid-1970s to play gigs around their Ponsonby, Auckland, home.
