This video briefly shows how to setup and use the NanoVNA to sweep an antenna system (antenna, transmission line, transmatch, etc.) to measure its VSWR, Reflection Coefficient, etc., and then shows how you can use it to monitor the tuning behavior as you make adjustments. This video shows how to measure the input impedance and gain of a small-signal RF amplifier - including the use of an attenuator to keep the amp in it's linear range and also to not overdrive the NanoVNA. This stems from a recent conversation with Bill N0CQR (SolderSmoke podcast). Kylie Lamoree, Motus Biologist for Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, explains how to use the NanoVNA to measure the standing wave ratio (SWR) of an antenna. In this video, Kylie describes how to calibrate the NanoVNA to measure from 432MHz to 436MHz, saves that calibration, and measures the SWR of a Laird YS4306 yagi antenna. This antenna is used on our Motus stations to detect tags that transmit at 434MHz (manufactured by Cellular Tracking Technologies). You can follow the same steps to calibrate the NanoVNA to measure from 164MHz to 168MHz, and save that calibration in a different save slot. This will allow you to measure the SWR of an antenna on your Motus station intended to detect tags transmitting at 166.380MHz (manufactured by Lotek Wireless, Inc.). Saving the two different calibrations allows you to easily move back and forth between the two frequencies to measure multiple antennas at your Motus station. This is a short clip that shows Mr. Joe Q. Smith's NanoVNA.exe software, a professional designed software that could be used to control some devices from NanoVNA series. Here, I load the NanoVNA.exe with the last settings (stored in defaults.set file) and sweep a 10.7 MHz SSB home-made ladder filter (5 crystals). The filter is nod adapted, so this could be seen from the bandwidth ripple or from the reflection coefficient graphs. All credits for this software application goes to Joe Q. The NanoVNA can be used to measure the VSWR of an L Band Dish antenna. Calibration is first done with an open, short and finally 50 ohm termination. The results can be seen directly on the unit with a marker or on a pc with NanoVNA software. The L Band dish was successfully used to receive GOES16, Inmarsat and Hydrogen line signals. BlogPost: 🤍
