It probably doesn't do the wonderful city of Oxford justice. Or maybe it does. Maybe this is a unique look at Oxford from the perspective of people who lived it and loved it. All I know is that it was fun to make and probably the episode with the most heart. In our Oxford travel guide, I'm joined by my brothers Andrew and Will who both went to university in Oxford. I'm also joined by Will's uni flat mate and dear friend, filmmaker Nick. And if you look closely, you may even get a rare "'in front of the camera" glimpse of Greg. Oxford is full of surprises. And I was glad to be shown around by the experts who could get beneath the veneer of this beautiful city and introduce to some Oxford classics. Enjoy! We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Oxford tourism brochure, Oxford itinerary or Oxford, England city tour. 15 Things to do in Oxford Travel Guide | Day Trip from London, England video transcript: Good morning here in London. Today we are taking a day trip. Yes, we sure are. And we're heading off to Oxford. I mean this is obviously a destination that is quite famous. The most famous University in the world. It is not far from London. So it is a day trip. We're really excited. We're going to film a travel guide to Oxford. A couple of tips to keep in mind if you're traveling by bus. It is usually cheaper if you book in advance. Also, we noticed that weekdays were cheaper than weekends so we are going on a Friday today and got a good deal. We made it. We have arrived and that was an awesome trip. We got to see London and the countryside. Food always comes first. We're about food always. We cannot go sightseeing without a bite of food. We found a pub that is nice and cozy. We're right in the corner and this place apparently specializes in fish and chips. The University of Oxford has no known foundation date but teaching of some form has taken place here since the year 1096 making it the oldest University in the English speaking world. Today the University is made up for 38 self-governing colleges a few of which are open to visitors. So one of the things you can do when you visit Oxford is go around and tour the different colleges. We paid two pounds and now we're inside Trinity College. Trinity College was founded in 1555 and it’s one of the smallest colleges in Oxford admitted just over 400 students. This college has produced some noteworthy figures, including a few prime ministers. We also saw had a quick glance at Radcliffe College and the Bodleain Library, before continuing on to the University Church. This is the oldest Botanic Garden in Great Britain and it was originally founded as a medicinal garden. The Garden was also frequently visited by Lewis Carroll, an Oxford mathematics professor, and the gardens were a source of inspiration for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Oxford Castle is a partly ruined Norman castle dating back to Medieval times. During the 18th century it housed the local prison, but today those same walls are home to a hotel. So I think that is a wrap for our day trip to Oxford. Time to catch our bus. We're tired but we've done the main things we wanted to do. I hope you guys enjoyed this travel guide to Oxford and that it gives you a good idea of how you can kind of explore the city on a day trip from London. If you can come for longer because we wish we had 2 or 3 days here. This is part of our Travel in England video series showcasing British food, British culture and British cuisine. Oxford Students Discuss Ukraine Russia Crisis | Oxford Union

DISCLAIMER: The Opinions given in these speeches are the personal views of each individual speaker and do not reflect the views of The Oxford Union SUBSCRIBE for more speakers ► 🤍 Oxford Union on Facebook: 🤍 Oxford Union on Twitter: 🤍OxfordUnion Website: 🤍 On the 24th of February 2022, the Russian Federation launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting the largest interstate conflict in Europe since the Second World War. This aggressive action is the latest and most extreme decision taken by President Putin towards former Soviet states; it follows the invasion of Georgia in 2008, the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, and ever-increasing interference in the politics of Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CSTO members. The conflict has developed steadily with Ukraine putting up a stout defence and holding Kyiv and other major cities against all expectations but the end is far from within sight. How will the crisis develop? It is clear that this event will come to define the next decade; the effect it has already had on the thinking of individuals across the world is more than apparent. It is also clear that this is an issue that has resonated with the Oxford Community and with our members. We thus feel that we have a duty to facilitate a discussion on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, the build-up to it, its geopolitical significance, and what we in the United Kingdom should be doing to help. ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. OXFORD | A full tour of Oxford, England

OXFORD | A full tour of Oxford, England to see what to see what life is like in the City Centre of Oxford and around Oxford University Also watch our tour of Llandudno Wales 👉🏻 🤍 We visit Oxford for a walking tour around the city centre and the Oxford University buildings to admire the beauty of the architecture and to have a look at the things to see here. Here is how Wikipedia describes Oxford : "Oxford, a city in central southern England, revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval center led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the 'City of Dreaming Spires'. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower (with city views) to the Botanic Garden on the River Cherwell" Oxford has plenty of tourist attractions, including Carfax Tower, offering superb views over the city, and the historic Covered Market with its excellent shopping. For a truly unique vacation experience, some university colleges now offer accommodation options, including bed and breakfast. The most obvious reason for Oxford's fame is the university. It's the second oldest in the world (allegedly), educator of 28 Nobel Prize winners, and often cited as the best university on the planet. But the reason the university became so famous isn't simply because it's a great university. Harry Potter was filmed in Oxford - Bodleian Library, New College and Christ Church College are the three university sites featured in the films, mainly in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, as well as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Situated only 55 miles west of Central London, Oxford is an easy day trip independently with frequent bus and coach services. The River Thames runs through Oxford in the early stages of its flow down to London through the Thames valley. Oxford is an expensive place to live and, in some areas, prices are on a par with London. Its proximity to London, its excellent schools and the fact that it houses one of the world's top universities all add to the cost of living in Oxford. Oxfordshire is a wonderful place to visit. With amazing architecture and history, beautiful villages, traditional market towns and hidden treasures there is so much to explore. It is home to famous literary figures, unique traditions and the city is famous for its dreaming spires skyline. A city of dreams and a city of science. A city where the world comes together to create the future, surrounded by the past. A city that for centuries has attracted those in search of excellence and answers, now guarding a millennium’s worth of stories! This is the city with meadows, where Long Horn cattle graze a short stroll from the high street and where two rivers meander through green open landscape. It’s doubled for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts and provides a parallel world for Philip Pullman’s Lyra. This is where CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien sat in pubs discussing their works in the making. There are still pubs a plenty, and sophisticated bars. Restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and budget. Enjoy the music, theatre and comedy. Explore the back alleys and discover the history behind the college walls. I would highly recommend a visit to Oxford and hope you enjoy this walking tour through the city. ► LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!
