This video is just me showing off the differences or even the models on the two bike side by side and to kind of give my input on what each bikes are better at and what you should look for if deciding between these two bikes. Full review: 🤍 I am currently road testing the all-new 2019 Specialized S-Works Venge. I will have a full / comprehensive review of this bike within the next few weeks. But before that, I wanted to briefly share my initial thoughts on this amazing road bike from Specialized. As part of my review process for Bike Chaser (🤍bikechaser.com.au) reviews, I will spend 2-3 weeks on this Specialized S-Works Venge followed by 6-8 hours of solid research. The ultimate output will be a 2,000 word written article and a 10-minute video review on this cycling YouTube station. But sometimes it's nice to forget about the technicalities and just explain how a bike feels upfront. So in this video, that's what I'm doing. Rocco was a soldier. US Army. I haven’t asked him much about that part of his life, what he saw or did, because when we talk we prefer to talk bikes. The sort of personality that excels in war has to excel at something when war’s gone. It’s built in. Bikes are that thing now. The latest in greatest in Rocco’s fleet is this custom painted 2020 Specialized Venge, finished by Chris Ellefson at Flux Customs. The pink is for his mother, who died of breast cancer a few years ago. And to prove, as he puts it, that real men can wear, and ride, pink. The wheels are from Lightweight, deep to match the bike’s personality, wrapped in Vittoria Corsa Control 28mm clinchers. He swapped out the stock bar for one from Enve. An SRM Origin power meter spins the Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain, modified with Ceramic Speed derailleur pulleys.

While the Tarmac SL6 that I test rode was the Specialized S-Works rim brake version, outside of braking performance and some very slight geometry changes, the Tarmac Rim VS. Disc bikes are almost identical. The five main aspects I will drill into to delineate the Venge from the Tarmac are: Speed & handing / Weight / Aesthetics / Comfort / Compatibility. I describe technical features while blending in my own personal riding experiences on both these race performance machines from Specialized. Interestingly, I weighed this 54cm Specialized Venge down at a Specialized dealer Hampton Cycles and it was 7.47 kgs, complete bike. While I was there, there was also a Tarmac SL5 with Roval 32s and SRAM ETAP DISC. And that was 7.38 kg. Incredible to think the Venge is almost the same weight as the older Tarmac S-Works, yet it has Roval 64 wheels. But Stock 56cms without pedals, cages etc: S-Works Venge comes in at 7.1kg with deep, 64mm Roval Carbon Wheels. S-Works Tarmac comes in at 6.65kg with mid size5 0mm Roval Carbon Wheels Outside of Venge VS Tarmac weight, I spend most of my time in this video on speed and handling, outlining some of the technologies Specialized have used to create the new Venge, which they now describe as “free Foil library tube shapes “ enabling them to actually improved the speed of the new Venge over the VIAS by 8 seconds over 40 km. Lastly, I conclude with which bike I'd personally prefer to take home. The Venge or the Tarmac....?

VENGE: More bike than aero. 🤍 The Venge is a pure-science mind wrapped in a lay-down-the-law body. With a one-two punch of Shiv inspired aerodynamics and Tarmac-borne stiffness, this machine was built to fly. With multiple World Tour victories under its belt, the FACT carbon frame and supreme handling delivers the winning formula of aero, light weight, and stiffness. With a measured 22 watts of free power at 40km/hr over the Tarmac, it's tailor-made for serious performers who like to crush competitors' dreams and break spirits into tiny pieces. FACT CARBON FRAME: WHAT High-modulus carbon aero frame utilizing our most advanced carbon construction method. WHY Gives the Venge the best complete performance package of aerodynamics, light weight, and stiffness. HOW Each tube and junction has been optimized for maximum stiffness and minimum weight, while maintaining an aerodynamic advantage. For instance, headtube assembly is extra wide at the crown for increased stiffness but remains narrow at the waist and tapers quickly to airfoil shape for weight savings and aero advantage. We've also employed stiffening plies of our highest-modulus carbon in strategic areas throughout the front triangle to further increase torsional stiffness. PATENTED, CAMBERED AIRFOIL X-SECTION SEATSTAYS WHAT Cambered, FACT carbon, asymmetrical seatstays. WHY To optimize the crosswind aerodynamics of the seatstays without sacrificing stiffness or headwind performance. HOW Airplane-wing shaped stays are asymmetrically designed with a flat outer surface and a smooth, rounded inner surface to calm crosswind airflow before passing by the wheels. Since cyclists most often face crosswinds (approximately 15% yaw on average), we've cambered out slightly the leading edge of the stays. This allows the wind to hit directly on the leading edge of the upwind stay, minimizing air disturbance and wrapping airflow around the stay and smoothly out the back. TAPERED HEAD/STEERER TUBES WHAT Strategically designed headtube/steerer assembly that tapers from 1-1/8" at the top to 1-3/8" at the crown, with an integrated aero spacer. WHY Increases strength and stiffness for greater steering precision, while optimizing airflow from steerer to top tube. HOW The wider base creates a naturally stiffer junction, and the gradual transition of carbon fiber from top to bottom eliminates the potential for weak spots due to sharp angles (carbon is at its best when it keeps a smooth line). The top cap curves gracefully into bevel in top tube for seamless interface, and turns with steerer tube for best aerodynamics even while steering. FACT CARBON 3:1 AIRFOIL FORK WHAT Fourth generation, UCI-legal, aero carbon fork with 3:1 shaping and straight profile. WHY To improve stiffness over traditional curved aero forks while remaining ultra-light. Provides an aerodynamic advantage combined with road bike handling and quickness. HOW Our 3:1 X-Section fork blades present a narrow edge to the wind, and run in a straight line from crown to dropouts optimizing lateral stiffness. An ultra-light carbon layup is employed on the blades and dropouts, which are co-molded with steel inserts for durability when taking wheels on and off. INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING WHAT Full internal cable routing for brake and shifter cables on all frames. Compatible with standard and Di2 components. WHY Maintains cleanest lines for optimal aerodynamics, while also keeping grit and grime from affecting shifting and braking performance. Hey! guys welcome back to the channel. We managed to get our hands on the S.Works Venge frame. So we decided to make a video on doing the build. The frame itself is in great condition, with no cracks or damage on the carbon. As for the components used, we initially about to install the Ultegra Brakes, good news is we managed to get Dura-Ace during the build. It is the lightest Road Bike we build so far.
