Susan Hendricks betrayed no emotion and spoke only to answer questions from a judge and to plead guilty to killing her two sons, her ex-husband and her stepmother. Two sets of family members — those sitting behind prosecutors and crying and those sitting behind Hendricks with stoic looks — packed a Pickens County courtroom to see her led away for a lifetime behind bars. Hendricks' plea, guilty but mentally ill, means she will spend the rest of her life in prison for the shooting deaths of her family in October 2011. A plea deal avoided the possibility of a death penalty. She will receive mental health treatment but she cannot be released from prison. 🤍
