Most video game designers don't research practical martial arts techniques, and of course they don't have to. "It's just a video game", who cares... Well, some players do. It's nice to also see down-to-earth, realistic animations and reasonably sized weapons every now and then. People often ask me which game has the most realistic combat, and the obvious candidates that come to mind are Mount & Blade, Chivalry, War of the Roses, and even Dark Souls to a degree. In my opinion the most accurate representation of real-life sword fights (before the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance) are to be found in a Ps1 game from 1997, Bushido Blade. It has 8 different weapons: - Katana - Rapier (with an oddly short blade) - Naginata - Sledgehammer (not exactly a standard weapon) - Nodachi - "Long sword" (really more of a spadroon) - Saber (basically a Chinese dao) - "Broadsword" (strange hybrid of a greatsword and a claymore, quite inaccurate in both name, shape and weight) The duels in Bushido Blade show the importance of correct distance and timing, just like in historical swordsmanship. Wildly flailing the weapon from side to side works well enough in many games (*cough* Skyrim *cough*) but here it doesn't get you very far. * Previous video about the realism in Dark Souls * 🤍 * Gopher: Should Fantasy Games be Realistic? * 🤍 * Background music (royalty free) * "Mr. Big" by Tuxedo Music 🤍 Intro made by Heidaz. 🤍 My favorite online store for buying swords (worldwide shipping): 🤍 Want to help fund future videos? 🤍 My Facebook page: 🤍

Classic Game Room HD reviews BUSHIDO BLADE for Playstation 1 PS1 video game console. Bushido Blade was released in 1997 and was instantly one of my favorite fighting games ever made. Choose from a small selection of characters and an awesome variety of weapons to stab, slash, hack or mash your opponents with. Bushido Blade was respected yet never really achieved popular mass market appeal, games like DOA, Tekken and Samurai Shodown were far more popular... yet Bushido Blade has something they don't. Maybe it's the lack of a health bar, maybe the weapons based combat or maybe it's just the style. This CGRHD review of Bushido Blade has gameplay footage from PS1 showing Bushido Blade being played in vs. mode and in POV (point of view) mode. You could even link two PS1 consoles together and play a friend in POV combat. The storyline is fun, but 2 player vs. combat is what this game is made for. Get 1 second kills or strech the game out all afternoon. Use button combos and three stances to wield an amazing variety of attacks with which to eliminate your enemy. Bushido Blade was developed by Lightweight and published by Squaresoft in 1997. The PS1 game disk can be found relatively easily, although not as cheaply as some other games for Playstation 1. They made a sequel, Bushido Blade 2, but I want an all-new Bushido Blade for PS3 or Xbox 360 with multiplayer. This is one of the finest fighting games ever made, a true departure from the norm and a worthwhile addition to any video gamer collection. Master the samurai style with the action packed Bushido Blade on PS1.
Bushido Blade is a fairly unique fighting game that came out on the original PlayStation. It was published by Squaresoft and made by Lightweight but didn't sell all that well. So is this a retro classic or a failed experiment? Lets find out...... #BushidoBlade #Playstation #Squaresoft

PS1 - Bushido Blade - LongPlay [4K:60FPS] 🔴 "Bushido Blade also features a number of very cool gameplay options. These include a terrifyingly well-done first-person battle mode (complete with two-player linkup) and the option to toggle between winter and spring settings for various backdrops. Each fight also has a number of dramatic outcomes, namely the different death throes that change with each killing blow, which are nothing short of awesome. Combined with the selection of stylish fighters and weapons, the replay value in this title is vast. Hard-core fighting-game fans should consider Bushido Blade a welcome breath of fresh air; it's a vastly different combat experience that makes for one of the classiest, most serious fighting games ever." - GameSpot Well this game is very interesting and with pgxp and widescreen it looks quite nice. 🤗Support my work on Patreon 💕 🤍 Catch up with me on Twitter 🤍 My PSN Levan27 Take a look at this page 🤍 🤍 My Android app on google play store 🤍

Bushido Blade (ブシドーブレード Bushidō Burēdo?) is a 3D fighting video game developed by Light Weight and published by Square and Sony for the PlayStation. The game features one-on-one armed combat. Its name refers to the Japanese warrior code of honor, Bushidō. Upon its release, the realistic fighting engine in Bushido Blade was seen as innovative, particularly the game's unique Body Damage System. A direct sequel, Bushido Blade 2, was released on the PlayStation a year later. Another game with a related title and gameplay, Kengo: Master of Bushido, was also developed by Light Weight for the PlayStation 2. The bulk of the gameplay in Bushido Blade revolves around one-on-one third-person battles between two opponents. Unlike most fighting games, however, no time limit or health gauge is present during combat. Most hits will cause instant death, while traditional fighting games require many hits to deplete an opponent's health gauge. It is possible to wound an opponent without killing them. With the game's "Body Damage System," opponents are able to physically disable each other in increments with hits from an equipped weapon, slowing their attacking and running speed, or crippling their legs forcing them to crawl. Notably, the North American release of Bushido Blade had one minor graphical change: blood was added, replacing the yellow flash that appears during a fatal blow. The game features eight weapons to choose from in many of its modes, including katana, nodachi, long sword, saber, broadsword, naginata, rapier, and sledgehammer. Each weapon has a realistic weight and length, giving each one fixed power, speed, and an ability to block. A variety of attack combinations can be executed by the player using button sequences with the game's "Motion Shift System," where one swing of a weapon is followed through with another.[Many of these attacks are only available in one of three stances, switched using the shoulder buttons or axis controls depending on controller layout: high, neutral, and low. The player also has a choice of one out of six playable characters. Similar to the weapons, each one has a different level of strength and speed, and a number of unique special attacks. Some characters have a subweapon that can be thrown as well. All the characters have differing levels of proficiency with the selectable weapons and have a single preferred weapon. Characters in Bushido Blade also have the ability to run, jump, and climb within the 3D environments. Because battles are not limited to small arenas, the player is encouraged to freely explore during battle. The castle compound which most of the game takes place in acts as a large hub area of interconnected smaller areas including a cherry blossom grove, a moat, and a bridge labyrinth. Some areas, such as the bamboo thicket, allow some interaction. In addition to the game's single player story mode, Bushido Blade contains a two-player versus mode and a link mode that supports the PlayStation Link Cable. Other single player options include a practice mode and a first person mode. Slash mode pits the player's katana-wielding character against a long string of 100 enemies, one after the other. -Wikipedia.com

"Bushido" is the soul of Japan - an ancient honor code deeply followed by samurai warriors for centuries. Plunge into real world battles across vast 3D environments that you can run, slice and tear through. Sword matches become unbelievably real where one critical blow is the mean difference between death and victory.
Neat thing about this game is how massive the main area of the story mode is for a PS1 fighting game, which is why i'm showing it. The not so neat thing is that you need to run across all of it to even attempt to get the good endings for the characters, and losing a fight means having to do it again.
