OAXACA CITY, MEXICO (2022) | 10 Best Things To Do In & Around Oaxaca City

Oaxaca City is the capital of the state of Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico. It’s truly one of the best places to visit in Mexico thanks to its mix of interesting history, world-class cuisine, and colorful examples of indigenous and colonial cultures. 10 INCREDIBLE Things To Do In & Around Oaxaca City: 10. Watch the sunset Since Oaxaca city is surrounded by mountains, it’s possible to enjoy wonderful sunsets and sunrises here. Go to any rooftop in the city or hike up to the “Auditorio Guelaguetza” for an amazing view. 9. Indulge in the Oaxacan Cuisine From some of the best experimental restaurants to delicious street food, the Oaxacan cuisine is uniquely influenced by its cultural diversity. Hike at Pueblos Mancomunados About a 1.5 hour drive from Oaxaca City, you can find the Pueblos Mancomunados. There are a wide variety of outdoor activities you can do here including hiking, mountain biking, ziplining and bird watching. 7. Visit the Local Markets “Mercado veinte de Noviembre” and “Mercado Benito Juárez” are great places to start and dive into the extraordinary food this area has to offer. They are both located in the historic center, just one block from the main square “Zócalo”. 6. Visit a mezcalería It would be a shame to visit Oaxaca and not try its most famous spirit made from agave plants. There are many mezcalerías in the city where you can taste mezcal. But for a real authentic experience, head out of town and visit one of the surrounding mezcal distilleries. 5. Day trip to Mitla Located about 31 miles, or 50km to the south of Oaxaca City sits the town of Mitla. Here, you can visit ruins that are of Zapotec and Mixtec origin as well as Prehistoric caves, which provided shelter for centuries with rock-art evidence from 10,000 years ago. 4. Visit the Historic Downtown (Free Walking Tour) The city of Oaxaca has been able to preserve its unique character thanks to its beautiful colors and interesting architecture. Founded in the 6th century B.C., it functioned as the Zapotecs capital between 500 B.C. and 800 A.D. ☑️ Monte Alban tour: 🤍 1. OAXACA, MEXICO (2022) | The Perfect Oaxaca Travel Itinerary (Coast to the Mountains in 2-3 weeks)

Oaxaca lies in the southwest of Mexico. It’s made up of a vast coastline and rugged mountains, with narrow valleys, canyons and ravines between them. Oaxaca is best known for its unique cuisine as well as its indigenous people and cultures. The largest indigenous groups are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen groups that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in Mexico thanks to the state's isolating terrain and commitment to honoring traditions. In this video, we will show you the perfect Oaxaca itinerary. This itinerary is recommended for at least a 14 day stay in Oaxaca and can be completed by public transportation, rental car, or a mix of both! Stop 1: Puerto Escondido How to get here: Direct flights from Mexico City and Guadalajara Recommended stay: 3-5 days Stop 2: Mazunte How to get here: Bus from Puerto Escondido to Pochutla and tell the bus driver that you want to get off at San Antonio. From there, you’ll have to take a taxi or local collectivo. Recommended stay: 1-2 days Stop 3: Zipolite How to get here: 20-minute taxi ride from Mazunte Recommended stay: 1-2 days Stop 4: San José del Pacifico How to get here: Bus from "Lineas Unidas" Bus station in Zipolite directly to José del Pacifico Recommended stay: 2-3 days Stop 5: Oaxaca City How to get here: Bus from San José del Pacifico main road to Oaxaca City (bus leaves every hour) Recommended stay: 7 days including day trips as mentioned below Stop 6: Mitla How to get there? Take a bus or rent a car from Oaxaca City, which will take you here in approximately 1 hour. Recommended stay: day trip Stop 7: Hierve el Agua How to get there? Located 70 kms or 43 miles from Oaxaca City, this is another site you can do as a day trip. You can rent a car or take a tour from Oaxaca. Alternatively, you can come by collectivo from Mitla. Recommended stay: day trip Stop 8: Pueblos Mancomunados How to get there? There are buses to Cuajimoloyas and Benito Juárez that leave from the “second class” bus station in Oaxaca City a few times a day. The driver will drop you off near the “tourist office” where you can book your activities and accommodation. Recommended stay: 1-5 days Where to next? After exploring the highlights of Oaxaca, you can continue your journey across other states in Mexico. The most common travel route goes to the southeast to San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas. It’s possible to take the ADO night bus from Oaxaca City, which takes about 12 hours. Alternatively, you can head to the north towards Puebla and Mexico City. Puebla is another beautiful city and gateway to the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. It takes about 4 hours to get here. ⬇️ FREE DOWNLOAD: Top 100 Bucket List Destinations: 🤍 ✅ SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 😊 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 🤍 📺 MORE VIDEOS YOU WILL ENJOY: - Puerto Escondido Things to Do: 🤍 - Oaxaca City Things to Do: 🤍 - Chiapas: Best Places to Visit: 🤍 - San Cristobal De Las Casas Things to Do: 🤍 ✍️ EASILY ORGANIZE YOUR TRIP WITH OUR TRAVEL PLANNER: Use code WORLD10 at checkout & get 10% OFF! 🤍 ✏️ BLOG POST YOU WILL ENJOY: 🤍 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS: Rejoice in the morning by The David Roy Collective El Mayor by Las Pampas Layla by Tarante Groove Machine Pueblos by Migra Juan by Turante Groove Machine The Heart Knows by Idan Balas 🎥 VIDEO CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 1:42 Puerto Escondido 2:40 Mazunte 4:02 Zipolite 4:44 San José del Pacifico 6:14 Oaxaca City 7:34 Mitla 8:46 Hierve el Agua 9:47 Pueblos Mancomunados 11:10 Where to next? #oaxaca #mexico #itinerary

Mexico's Safest City: Oaxaca 🇲🇽

■ OAXACA, MEXICO: Traveling anywhere in 2020 and 2021 was ridiculously expensive, difficult, time consuming and headache inducing. Sadly 2022 is even worse. Not only do the ubiquitous problems of arbitrary government travel restrictions still exist in most parts of the world... but inflation have been wreaking havoc on anything travel related which have resulted in a doubling and sometimes even trippling in prices on airfares and hotels. Having not been to Mexico for exactly two years, I was anxious to see if that was also the case here. Mexico was far from a budget place when I last visited, but it was still a lot freer in 2020 than many other countries as far as traveling to the country was concerned. With the famous Day of the Dead fast approaching I decided to pay Mexico a visit. I took trains, buses and taxis for several days before I found myself in a country with a direct flight to Mexico City. Whilst at Heathrow in London waiting for my flight with Aero Mexico I started looking at hotels. I was shocked!!! Hotels that are normally US$ 20 a night were now going for $2-400! The upscale hotels that normally go for $200 were $1200!!! I decided to board my flight and book something upon arrival. After an 11 hour flight to Mexico City I sat down at 5AM in an airport restaurant to see if prices had improved. They had not! It was time for plan B, choose another city to go to. After browsing around in Google Maps my choice fell on Oaxaca. Many people all over Mexico on my previous visits told me to travel to Oaxaca for a truly authentic Mexico experience. Plus I am always interested in visiting new cities I have never been before. Once the choice was made I went to SkyScanner to see if there were any direct flights from Mexico City to Oaxaca. There were but the cheapest was US $350 one way! That's an outrage!!! I asked the waitress in the restaurant and she said Oaxaca. was reachable in a day by bus. So off I went to find a bus to Oaxaca ASAP.... ■ OAXACA MARKET HUNT: 🤍 ■ By clicking 'Like' 👍🏻 on this video you help me out massively with reaching both current subscribers and new viewers. Street Food in Oaxaca - CHEESE CORN CHAMPION and Mexican Meat Alley Tour in Mexico!

►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: 🤍 ►T-shirts available now: 🤍 One of the places I was most excited to visit in Mexico for food (Comida Oaxaqueña) is Oaxaca. Oaxaca has one of the most developed and advanced food cultures in all of Mexico. For our first day, we set out on a Mexican street food tour of Oaxaca, eating everything we could see. Mercado de Abastos - We began the morning at one of the biggest local fresh food markets in Oaxaca. I samples a Tamal de Mole - 11 MXN ($0.59) and a hot Chocolate - 10 MXN ($0.53), both of which were delicious, and a great way to start this tour. Soup - 30 MXN ($1.60) per bowl - The market was just opening, but there was a busy soup stall, so we stopped to have a bowl. The fish and shrimp soup were both delicious. Memelas - 30 MXN ($1.60) total - One of the ultimate Mexican street foods to try in Oaxaca is memalas, a round of masa, cooked and topped with salsa and cheese, and your choice of other toppings. We got it with grilled meat on top. It was delicious, one of the best things I ate throughout the day. Carnitas - 30 MXN ($1.60) total - This was just a quick impulse taco on the go because it looked so good… it was. Zócalo Oaxaca, Plaza de Santo Domingo - The center of Oaxaca is a pleasant place to hang out, only today there happen to be a protest going on, so it was a bit busy. Mercado 20 de Noviembre - Meat combo - 300 MXN ($16.02) - This is one of the great meat halls of the world. You walk in to the meat sauna, choose your meat, they grill it all in front of you, and you eat it with tortillas and salsa. An amazing food paradise. Tlayudas El Negro - Tlayudas are another common Oaxacan street food, using giant tortillas filled with beans, cabbage, and cheese, and then grilled. Price - 80 MXN ($4.27) for 1 Monte Albán - Resting our stomachs, we did a little sightseeing in Oaxaca. One of the famous attractions are the ruins of Monte Alban. Elote - 20 MXN ($1.07) - You’ll find elotes, a corn on the cobb with cheese and salsas, all over Mexico. It’s one of the most common Mexican street foods… but this guy is at the main plaza of Oaxaca is on another level. His style is champion! Mole negro - 60 MXN ($3.20) per plate - Finally to end this Mexican street food tour of Oaxaca, we needed to have a plate of mole negro, one of the national dishes of Oaxaca. It was an amazing day of food. Oaxaca has such a rich culture of food and friendly people. Oaxaca Market Hunt 🇲🇽

■ OAXACA, MEXICO: Oaxaca is a shopper's paradise! There are markets and street vendors everywhere. Most of the stores are also really unique with local crafts and products you won't find in malls or abroad. I was tempted to do a shopping video just going to fixed price shops. However that would mean I'd be missing out on the Mexican bargaining experience. Nothing beats a good old fashioned market bargaining experience as far as I am concerned. So I decided to go to Oaxaca's Benito Juarez market in the centre of town. (not to be confused with the tyrannical 21st November food market which have mask tyrants at every entrance and don't let free people in... but I digress). At the Benito Juarez market I had a pretty simple plan. Fill up my shopping bag with goodies... then find a deserving local to give it to. That however proved somewhat more difficult than initially anticipated... ■ By clicking 'Like' 👍🏻 on this video you help me out massively with reaching both current subscribers and new viewers. Usually less than 4% of viewers bother. When I haven't uploaded regularly in a while this is ULTRA IMPORTANTE to break back through into the algorithm. People get recommended videos from channels they've watched recently. Since there hasn't been anything on my channel all year it is hence recommended much less than before even to my own subscribers until more of you have been on the channel recently. Likes and engagement is the best way to break back into people's recommendations. ■ NEW INSTAGRAM: 🤍

Our first impressions of Oaxaca City Mexico take us all around the city looking for the best things to do. We start out in Mercado De Noviembre right in Meat Alley. Meat Alley otherwise known as the aisle of smoke is a great place for lunch with locals. The entire alley is filled with vendors selling grilled meats and vegetables. Next we try out some Mezcal at El Rey de Los Mezcales. Up next is the sketchiest market in all of Oaxaca, Mercado de Alabastos, according to some people. Many locals told us to not go or to hide all of our valuables in our shoes. Here we talk with stall owners and take more Mezcal shots with locals. After the market we head to the most beautiful church in Oaxaca, Templo de Santo Domingo which is named a Unesco World Heritage site for its history and beauty. Last but not least is the Benito Juarez market which is the oldest market in Oaxaca to get some Tejate, which is a traditional Oaxacan cacao drink. Lastly we give our final first impressions and what we truly think about Oaxaca.   #OaxacaMexico #Oaxaca #TravelVlog   Connect With Us! Playing Brigand Oaxaca: Jink for Jank

Why Do People Love Oaxaca And Why We Had To Leave Oaxaca Mexico

In today's video, we will talk about why we left Oaxaca (Oaxaca City), Mexico. As you know from following our Mexico travels, we lived in Queretaro, Mexico for over a year after making the decision to leave the U.S. for a new life. We decided to leave Queretaro for Oaxaca to continue to expand our knowledge about living in Mexico and bring our perspective of a new city to our viewers. is it time for us to leave oaxaca?

Our pleasant Saturday night took a scary turn after we were followed by an angry man. We also have some big news to share about travel in 2021. ►Subscribe to our free email newsletter: 🤍 On our way to dinner in Oaxaca, Mexico we realized a man was following us. We stepped off to the side to let him pass and he got inexplicably angry. The man started shouting obscenities at us in Spanish, even after we crossed the street to get away from him. We've traveled around Mexico for 3 years and never had something like this happen. It was pretty scary. After eating dinner at a tapas and wine bar, we share some major news that will affect travel in 2021. An executive order was just released that will require anyone traveling internationally into the United States will not only have to show a negative COVID-19 test to fly, they will also have to quarantine upon return. This caused a lot of craziness in our week because we have a necessary business trip to the US coming soon. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • ABOUT ME I'm Jordan and am an American living in Mexico with my Husky, Laska. PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO (2022) | 6 Things You HAVE TO do in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

Puerto Escondido is a laid-back beach town located along the West Coast in the State of Oaxaca. It’s one of the most popular beach destinations along the Oaxacan coast, attracting mostly surfers and backpackers. Once you set foot in Puerto Escondido, you’ll fall madly in love with the beaches, authentic food, and relaxed vibes. In this video, we highlight 6 things that you cannot miss in Puerto Escondido. Spend at least 3 to 5 days in the area to be able to fit them all in! 6. Beach Hike from Playa Principal to Playa Manzanillo At number 6 we have the beach hike from Playa Principal to Playa Manzanillo. The walkway sits right next to the water and starts from the western end of Playa Principal. It has a few scenic overlooks and you can spot many birds and crabs along the way. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get to Playa Manzanillo, where you can refresh in the calm waters or have a drink! 5. Try Local Food The state of Oaxaca in general is known for its delicious cuisine. With ingredients such as chocolate, Oaxaca cheese, mezcal, grasshoppers, and mole sauce, there’s so many unique dishes that you have to try. 4. Manialtepec Lagoon / Bioluminescence Only a short 20-minute drive from Puerto Escondido sits the Manialtepec Lagoon. This beautiful lake is a sanctuary for birds and home to bioluminescent plankton. It’s a peaceful and quiet place that is best explored by boat tour or by kayak. ☑️ Turtle release + bioluminescence tour: 🤍 3. Day Trip To Mazunte Another great thing to do when you’re in Puerto Escondido is to visit the nearby sleepy town of Mazunte. To get to there, you can take a local bus from Puerto Escondido. Flag down the bus to Pochutla and hop on until you reach San Antonio. From there you’ll have to take a taxi or local collectivo. Known for its small beach bays, hippie vibes, and sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Mazunte has a certain charm to it. 2. Surf & hit the beaches Incredible surf conditions are what put Puerto Escondido on the map. It’s known as one of the top surf destinations in the world with the biggest waves coming between April and October at the northern end of Playa Zicatela. But if you’re not an advanced surfer, you can surf the gentler waves at Playa Carrizalillo or La Punta. And of course, you don't have to have an interest in surfing to enjoy the beaches in Puerto Escondido. There are eight beautiful beaches that are waiting to be explored. Our favorite ones include the crescent-shaped beach of Carrizalillo, the large Playa Bacocho, and the bohemian La Punta. 1. Release Baby Turtles Turtle conservation is a big issue in Puerto Escondido and volunteers monitor more than 30 km of beaches around Puerto Escondido to ensure the turtle eggs don’t get stolen by local people who eat them. They also have several turtle egg hatcheries to help shade the eggs from the sun, which is an important part of the conservation. Every day at Playa Bacocho, baby turtles are released into the ocean. You can pay 100 pesos (5$) to partake in the release at 5pm. You’ll also learn about the turtles and the project. The money you pay goes towards the project, which is a great initiative if you ask us! ⬇️ FREE DOWNLOAD: Top 100 Bucket List Destinations: 🤍 ✅ SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 😊 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 🤍 🤍 📺 MORE VIDEOS YOU WILL ENJOY: - Best of the Yucatan Peninsula: 🤍 - Chiapas: Best Places to Visit: 🤍 - Oaxaca City Best Things To Do: 🤍 - Oaxaca State Road Trip Itinerary: 🤍 ✏️ BLOG POST YOU WILL ENJOY: 🤍 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS: Rejoice in the morning by The David Roy Collective Rat Trap by Energy Plus Salta Montes by Migra Atlantic Breeze by Dan Zeitune 🎥 VIDEO CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 1:27 Beach walkway 2:30 Try local food 3:02 Laguna Manialtepec 3:57 Day trip to Mazunte 5:10 Puerto Escondido Beaches 6:05 Baby Turtle Release #puertoescondido #mexico #oaxaca

Oaxacan Mole Negro - THE MOST MYSTERIOUS Mexican Food in Oaxaca Village, Mexico!

Mole negro is one of the most amazing Mexican foods! ►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: 🤍 ►T-shirts available now: 🤍 Cooking Oaxacan mole negro from scratch was one of the best food and cultural experiences I’ve ever had. On top of that, we didn’t really know what we were going to do when we set off in the morning… but things worked out for the best. Thank you to Javier and his family for inviting us into their home to cook amazing Oaxacan food! So in the morning the plan was Rent a van for the day Drive to a village Find a market Ask a nice Grandmother or Aunty to cook us some authentic Oaxacan mole negro Now, mole negro is one of the most complex and mysterious of all the Oaxacan Mexican food dishes. There’s such a huge mix of random ingredients in the dish, and no one knows for sure how it was invented or how it came about - there are only legends. After renting a van for the day, our driver Javier came to pick us up and we started talking with him to see if he knew anyone that would make us Oaxacan mole negro from scratch. He called his Mom, and she agreed! We picked up Mom in a place called Tlacolula de Matamoros, and we went straight to the market to buy all the ingredients for mole negro. Tlacolula de Matamoros is a predominantly Zapotec town, an Indigenous pre-Columbian civilization from the Valley of Oaxaca We got back to the house and started preparing all the ingredients. Let me tell you, mole negro has to be one of the most complex and mysterious of all Mexican food. It includes so many random and seemingly odd ingredients. It was a lot of fun to learn how to make it. The end result of the Oaxacan mole negro, was supreme. The sauce was so rich, chocolatey, and you could taste all the random ingredients in it - the nuts and dried fruit. It’s deliciously complex. Mole was amazing, and having the chance to hang out in a traditional Oaxacan village to cook was priceless.
