Russia - Belarus Handball Full match international friendly match 2023 First win of the year. Russians beat Belarusians at home On Thursday, January 5, a friendly match between the men's teams of Russia and Belarus took place in Moscow. This meeting opened a new handball year for the two countries. If we take out the training match of three halves against our own youth team, the Russian team has not played for almost a year. And, according to the head coach Velimir Petkovic, today's meeting clearly showed why it is important for the team to get together even in the conditions of suspension from international competitions. “In the first half, we saw that the team lacked playing practice. After the break it got better - precisely because the team found its rhythm. We are working on this at the training camp,” Petkovic said. All 20 handball players who worked last week in Novogorsk were included in the application of the Russian national team. There are many newcomers among them, but right winger Nikita Larin , left welterweight Alexander Grebenkin , goalkeeper Alexander Lysenko , as well as lineman Radomir Vrachevich , who has experience playing at Euro 2022, did not appear on the court this time. In the starting lineup, there was only one handball player who did not play at the European Championship a year ago - this is the left winger Sergey Nikolaenkov . Together with him, the match was started by goalkeeper Viktor Kireev , left winger Daniil Shishkarev , welterweights Mikhail Vinogradov and Dmitry Kiselevand two linemen - Alexander Ermakov and Pavel Andreev . The latter, when moving to the attack, changed to point guard Denis Afonin , who, like Nikolaenkov, was included in the extended application for the Euro, but in the end did not go to Slovakia. The account after a cunning combination with the entrance to the place of the left welterweight was opened by Shishkarev. The debut as a whole remained with the hosts, but soon the Belarusians, led by Chekhov Bears point guard Artyom Kulak and left welterweight Vladislav Kulesh, not only caught up with the Russians, but also took the lead - 5:4 in the ninth minute. Combination handball allowed the Russians to take the lead again - Vinogradov acted as an effective assistant, Shishkarev famously implemented both throws from position and breakaways, including beautifully - with twisting. That's just in the second half of the first half, the attack of the Russian team stalled. More than ten minutes passed between the tenth and eleventh goals of the hosts! “In the first half, we did a good job in defense, but the execution let us down. Coming to the site, I even felt excitement, after all, we gathered in such a composition a year ago. The guys tried to give their best, to please the fans. I think it worked out, ”Shishkarev said after the match. In this unfortunate period, the Russians began to lose the ball more often. Shishkarev was replaced by Dmitry Kornev , left welterweight Dmitry Santalov began to appear in the attack , the debutant of the national team Sergey Bolotin took the place in the draw . But it was not possible to return the old game. In the 22nd minute, Kulesh, after a great solo pass with a strong shot from the crossbar, reduced the difference to a minimum, and in the next attack, lineman Vyacheslav Bokhan equalized the score - 10:10 and Petkovic took a timeout. The pause didn't help. Welterweights Yevgeny Dzymin and Sergei Ivanov , who entered the court, also failed to correct the situation - soon the Belarusians were already leading by two goals. There was no way to stop Kulesh, and Bohan could only be dealt with by violating the rules. Seven-meter regularly implemented right welterweight Nikolai Alekhin. The teams went to the break with the score 15:13 in favor of the guests. From the first minutes of the second half, Artyom Grushko appeared at the gates of the Russian national team , and on the left side, for the first time as part of the national team, Nikita Iltinsky entered the site . Now the implementation has begun to fail the Belarusians, including the almost flawless Kulesh. Ivanov became one of the main protagonists of the Russian attack - Sergey threw himself and earned a penalty. Afonin played well with Ermakov, Kornev caught the courage, who equalized the score with a beautiful acrobatic throw with a twist in the 34th minute. “I didn’t change our game, I just asked handball players why they don’t use speed? For a whole week in Novogorsk they ran, and then suddenly there was a fear of a mistake. Because of this, there were losses, after which the team lost confidence. So I just needed to get the guys, ” Velimir Petkovic said about work during the break .

The backcourt player attacks against his defender to lure him out. Then he makes sidestep towards the middle and goes for a jump shot. The pivot player then takes a step forward and makes a well-timed side screen on the defender who now is stopped with no chance to follow the movement. The other defender must then go out on the shooter. At the same time the pivot player falls down in the open space, receives the pass and finish the attack. 🤍

Russia Vs Serbia Handball Women's World Championship Spain 2021 RHF TAKE FIRST PLACE IN GROUP B AFTER A STRONG PERFORMANCE AGAINST SERBIA RHF won their third game at the 25th IHF Women’s World Championship in Spain and thus took first place in Group B after beating Serbia tonight. Serbia fought hard against RHF but just before half-time, RHF took the lead and increased it steadily. GROUP B RHF vs Serbia 32:22 (15:9) The audience in Llíria had to wait more than three minutes to see the first goal of the game, which was scored by Ekaterina Ilina for RHF. One and a half minute later, Tamara Radojevic equalited to get the game started for Serbia as well. Both teams were of course eager to show their strength early on. However, in minute 9, the score was tied at 3:3. Iuliia Markova put RHF ahead by two goals after 13 minutes, the biggest lead so far. But the Serbs had an answer to that, scoring three unanswered goals to claim the lead after Kristina Liscevic and Aleksandra Stamenic each scored one. RHF called for a time-out and tried to stop the momentum for Serbia, which worked well. Coach Liudmila Bodnieva must have said the right words as her team scored two goals for yet another lead change in this exciting game. Approaching half-time, RHF were even able to increase the lead. With the score of 15:9 the teams went into the changing rooms. Two consecutive goals by RHF opened the second half, underlining that they wanted to decide this game as soon as possible. Serbia’s Stoiljkovic scored for her team but RHF answered with another two. Serbia kept trying to cut the lead, which RHF kept solidly. 15 minutes before the end of the game, RHF were up by eight goals. Ten minutes before the final whistle, RHF were able to extend the lead to double digits. Tamara Radojevic for Serbia scored the last goal of the match for the final result of 32:22 in favour of RHF. RHF will enter the main round with four points and lots of confidence, while Serbia join the main round with a win and a loss, but surely eager to bounce back in the upcoming matches. hummel Player of the Match: Antonina Skorobogatchenko, RHF Photo: RFEBM / J. Norway Vs Russia Handball Women's World Championship Spain 2021 MACHINE-LIKE EFFICIENCY POWERS NORWAY INTO THE SEMI-FINALS Norway sealed their fourth consecutive semi-final berth – and their seventh at the last eight editions of the IHF Women’s World Championship – after a comprehensive 34:28 win against RHF in the battle of the most decorated teams in history in the competition. The Scandinavian side will now face hosts Spain in a crunch semi-final, while the RHF will be eighth in the final standings, their worst performance in the competition since 1999. QUARTER-FINALS Norway vs RHF 34:28 (19:15) Conceding 19 goals in the first half of a IHF Women’s World Championship quarter-final match is virtually synonymous with elimination from the competition, but the RHF team had little to show against Norway, who ran riot for the first 30 minutes. It took a plethora of factors for Norway to display such ruthless efficiency, chief of which was the inability of the RHF goalkeepers to stop their shots, as Anastasiia Lagina and Polina Kaplina each saved one shot, with the Scandinavian side finishing the first part of the match with an otherworldly 83% shooting efficiency. But it was also Norway’s outstanding depth, creativity and plenty of teamwork, with 14 from their 19 goals coming from assists, six of which were delivered by the core of their attack, centre back Stine Bredal Oftedal. It was not a vintage performance from the Scandinavian side, rather than a job perfectly executed, with their 4:0 run between the second and fifth minute setting the tone for what ensued. Facing a young RHF team, who needed permanent instructions from coach Liudmila Bodnieva, who frequently conducted huddles with her players during the game, Norway displayed the usual machine-like efficiency. Ready to avenge the two consecutive losses from the bronze-medal game at Japan 2019 and the painful semi-final at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, which denied them a chance for the gold medal, the Scandinavian side seemed to be cruising to the win. But after scoring only twice in the first eight minutes of the second half, coach Thorir Hergeirsson sensed something was amiss, with the flawless attacking game from the first half disappearing into thin air. His perfect timing in calling a time-out was exactly the ingredient needed to recharge Norway’s batteries, as another 4:0 run, mirroring the one from the first half, basically ended the RHF’s pursuit for the win, as the reigning European champions jumped to a 26:20 lead, much to the joy of their fans present in Granollers. Individually, star right back Nora Mork, the hummel Player of the Match, had her best outing in the competition after somewhat of a hit-and-miss game against the Netherlands, being a key cog in Norway’s well-oiled machine, scoring nine goals and dishing four assists. Despite a late attempt for a comeback in the last 10 minutes of the game, when they used a 6:2 run to cut the gap to only five goals (25:30), the RHF could not derail Norway’s challenge for their fourth consecutive semi-final at the world handball flagship event. Eventually, the Scandinavian side enjoyed a thorough 34:28 win, not their biggest in history against their archrivals, or a win like the one in the quarter-finals at Germany 2017, 34:17, but enough to prove why they are one of the teams to beat at Spain 2021. Norway extended their unbeaten streak at Spain 2021 to seven games, six of which were wins, boasting their best start at the IHF Women’s World Championship since Italy 2001, when they went undefeated in the final, only to concede a loss against Russia. Their path to the final crosses the one of another unbeaten team in this tournament, hosts Spain, who won all of their seven games coming in the final weekend in Granollers, in a clash that will surely be one of the highlights of the tournament. On the other hand, RHF will now finish eighth, due to winning less points in the main round than any other qualified team in the knockout phase at Spain 2021. This will be the worst finish for the RHF in the IHF Women’s World Championship since Denmark/Norway 1999, when they finished 12th. hummel Player of the Match: Nora Mork, Norway No copyright infringement is intendet, the videos are edited to follow the "Free Use" guideline of YouTube. RHF CRUISE PAST CAMEROON IN OPENING CONTEST It seemed as though Cameroon would be able to compete with RHF in the first 10 minutes of the match. However, the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 runners-up quickly overcame their early troubles to eventually secure an easy win against the African side in Llíria. GROUP B RHF vs Cameroon 40:18 (17:10) Few people gave Cameroon a chance in this Group B opening match, but they gave RHF a run for their money in the opening minutes, even leading 6:4 after a goal from Cyrielle Ebanga Baboga in the 11th minute. Was it the nerves, expectations, sloppiness or perhaps the absence of superstar Anna Vyakhireva for RHF? RHF, who boast an experienced roster, did not panic, settled in their game and quickly silenced doubters after the Baboga goal. In the same minute, RHF began an 11:2 run that would put the game out of reach. Led by Iuliia Markova and Antonia Skorobogatchenko, the Russian side went into the break with a 17:10 lead. It was more of the same in the second half as RHF’s offence was even more dominant alongside their strong defence. Cameroon tried but could not find a rhythym to make a comeback as it was just too little too late with the deficit ballooning to as much as 23 late in the second half. RHF coach Liudmila Bodnieva was able to rotate her entire squad with everyone getting at least 16 minutes of action. RHF finished the match with 66% shooting efficiency compared to Cameroon’s 39%. Karichma Kaltoume Ekoh finished as the African side’s top scorer with four goals. RHF face fellow European side Poland in their next match and can seal a berth in the main round with a victory, while Cameroon will look to rebound against what will be another difficult test against Serbia. hummel Player of the Match: Isabelle Noelle Mben Bediang, Cameroon Photo: RFEBM / J. Montenegro Vs Russia Handball Women's World Championship Spain 2021 RHF cruised to a six-goal victory against Montenegro in their penultimate Main Round Group I match, defeating their opponents 31:25 as they retain their hopes of making the last eight. MAIN ROUND GROUP I Montenegro vs RHF 25:31 (10:18) RHF coach Liudmila Bodnieva had to make a last-minute adjustment to her plans with line player Anastasiia Illarionova suffering an injury to her ankle in the pre-match warm-up. With just two line players in Spain – the other is 18-year-old player Kseniia Zakordonskaia, who made her competitive debut against Serbia two games ago – Bodnieva instead switched to centre back Karina Sabirova. Despite the unexpected change, it made little difference to the RHF’s dominance on court as they faced a Montenegro side who have no possibility of qualification through to the quarter-finals. A few seconds after nine minutes had passed, the opening exchanges looked grim for Bojana Popovic’s side as they were 1:7 down with RHF in total control. Popovic took a time out but it did little, with the RHF lead nearly stretching to 10 (7:16, 25 mins and 9:18, 30 mins). Just before the break, Montenegro captain, Jovanka Radicevic, with both thighs taped, suddenly pulled up on her return to defence following a score from a fast-break, immediately indicating an injury to her hamstring, but, thankfully, she returned to court in the second half. She ended up as top-scorer in the match with seven goals and, again, had given her all, exhausted after the final buzzer. “The first half, we didn’t fight enough, but we can take good things from the second half,” said Popovic after the match. We tried so much in the second half to find the right person on court but it took too long to find those.” RHF finally extended their lead to 10 through Iuliia Managarova in the 43rd minute (24:14) and kept it up until the 53rd minute (29:19) when they took their foot off of the gas and Montenegro kept going, outscoring their opponents 6:2 in the final moments, to make the scoreline more respectable. Montenegro’s frustration with the match was evident, not least with a few small clashes on court, most notably when Itana Grbic was given a two-minute for a coming together with Olga Shcherbak. “We expected a tough match and we got it,” said Bodnieva. “We had a little bit of a problem in the second half when we made some rotation in our squad but we knew these two points were very important for us.” hummel Player of the Match: Antonina Skorobogatchenko, RHF No copyright infringement is intendet, the videos are edited to follow the "Free Use" guideline of YouTube. Croatia Vs Russia Handball International Friendly Match 2022 Croatia Cup in Osijek: Croatia Handball Tops Russia 30:24 Because COVID-19 plagued the Bosnia and Herzegovina national handball team, Croatia handball met Russia to open the Croatia Cup in Osijek on Friday. As Russia's appearance at the tournament had been agreed upon earlier, the Croatian Handball Federation reacted quickly and arranged two friendly matches against Russia instead. The first was played on Friday, January 7, and the second to be played on Saturday, January 8, at the same time. Croatia was left without Luka Šebetić due to an injury, while captain Domagoj Duvnjak and Luka Cindrić are in COVID isolation. Marko Mamić was ruled out of the Croatia Cup to prevent further injury. Russia was once an international handball powerhouse. In the last 30 years or so since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia has won eight medals from major competitions. The last one, however, was a long time ago, in Athens at the Olympic Games when they won bronze. Russia is in a very interesting group at the European Championship, along with Norway, Lithuania, and one of the two hosts, Slovakia. Their first round is played in Košice. Recap Russia scored the first goal of the match for 0:1 at 1:41. Cupic equalized for 1:1 10 seconds later, before Russia took the lead again on a quick counterattack. Mandic made it 2:2 at 2:30. Martinovic scored for 3:2 in the 6th minute and a Mandic goal made it 4:2 in the 7th. Martinovic made it 5:2 before Russia finally scored for 5:3 in the 10th minute. Martinovic scored again for 6:3 a minute later! Cupic made it 7:4 in the 12th and it was 8:4 for Croatia moments later. A Jaganjac lob made it 9:4 in the 14th. Mandic made it 11:7 in the 19th minute. Martinivoc hit the upper left corner for a goal in the 24th minute (12:9), again for 13:9 one minute later, and again for 14:10 in the 26th! Croatia's star continued to find the back of the net - Martinovic bent it around the keeper for 15:12 with 2 minutes to go in the first half. The first half ended 15:12 for Croatia. Croatia scored the first goal of the second half in the first minute for 16:12. Glavas scored from 7 meters for 17:12. Martinovic scored from 7 meters for 18:13 in the 5th minute. Mihic scored his first goal of the match in the 7th minute for 19:15. Sipic scored for 20:16 in the 10th minute and again for 21:17 one minute later. Gadza scored for 22:18 in the 13th minute. Jaganjac scored a rocket for 23:19 in the 15th minute. Martinovic scored his 10th goal of the game in the 17th minute for 24:20. A quick Croatia counter made it 25:20 in the 18th. Jaganjac scored again for 26:20 for Croatia's biggest advantage of the game. Jaganjac scored for 27:22 in the 22nd minute. Goalkeeper Mate Sunjic saved a Russia penalty in the 24th minute. With 3 minutes to go, Croatia was up by 5 points (28:23). A fab play by Glavas made it 29:23. Glavas scored again for 30:23 with 2 minutes to go. Russia scored the final goal of the game which ended 30:24. No copyright infringement is intendet, the videos are edited to follow the "Free Use" guideline of YouTube . RHF Russia Vs France Handball Women's World Championship Spain 2021 FRANCE DEMONSTRATE PODIUM STRENGTH, AGAIN Russia-based Rostov-Don centre back Grace Zaadi Duena knows a thing or two about playing and winning in handball at the very top, it was just a shame for RHF on Monday night at the Palau d’Esports in Granollers that she was on the opposite side of the court, playing against them, for France. In a powerful demonstration of their medal credentials, France ran rampant, seeing off their opponents with a five-goal victory, 33:28 to make it six straight wins at Spain 2021 alongside Denmark and Spain. MAIN ROUND GROUP I RHF vs France 28:33 (12:17) The 16 players for each side named by both the RHF and France for this repeat of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 gold-medal match featured 16 players who had graced the court in Japan last August. Five of them were with the RHF side, while 11 were with France and it was the Grace on court which made the difference – in this case, Grace Zaadi Duena. The French centre back is a once-in-a-generation player, able to lead the beating heart of Olivier Krumbholz’s side, make multiple decisions in a blink of an eye and bring out large, uncontrollable smiles from her whole squad, including the coaching staff. She is supported by a wealth of experience and talent of course – 2009 IHF World Handball Player of the Year Alison Pineau and multiple other award winners and medallist across the world – and it was that squad mixture which saw off Liudmila Bodnieva’s new-look team. Both coaches made changes from their last matches with Bodnieva replacing young line player Kseniia Zakordonskaia by the new addition to the squad, Irina Korneeva, normally a left back, but seen on the line against the French attack, with the recovered Anastasiia Illarionova able to return to her role, following an injury scare to her ankle. Krumbholz brought back Laura Flippes, herself recovered from injury and new addition Orlane Kanor with Kalidiatou Niakate and Orlane Ahanda removed. RHF took an early 6:3 lead (9th minute), but France drew level thanks to a wonderful Pineau long-ranger (6:6, 12th minute) and Bodnieva took an early time out (14th minute), but this seemed to have a negative effect as France went ahead (9:6). A 3:0 run just before the end of the half saw a double from Pauletta Foppa and France had the impetus going into the second period (17:12). The pace of the game was relentless in the second half with fans inside the arena witnessing what was likely the fastest-paced game seen in the 1992 Olympic Games venue since the start of Spain 2021. 28:22 ahead with 10 minutes to go, France took their foot off the accelerator a little and the young RHF players pushed on, taking a 5:3 run to the final buzzer. So, the saga between these two sets of players continues and they could meet again later this week in the final, but for now, Zaadi Duena and teammate Beatrice Edwige can take bragging rights back to Rostov-Don and look forward to a quarter-final against Sweden, while RHF will face Norway in the last eight. hummel Player of the Match: Pauletta Foppa, France No copyright infringement is intendet, the videos are edited to follow the "Free Use" guideline of YouTube .
