Hey Derek, if you get a bolt with the same thread size as the post you can screw it in an inch or so and hammer the head with zero chance of slipping, the threads can take the beating without damage. I think USA Gibson is 5/16-24 UNF (at least the vintage ones are). Ace Hardware has them. Great job as usual.
