Wow the kit guitar is the better
I think pickup quality was the only difference. If they had the same pickups I doubt I’d hear the difference
nice comparison. i was wrong on a couple of the blind tests. There is definitely a difference but both sounded great in their own way. I liked the gibson better in some areas and the kit better in others. I'd love to see the same comparison but with the same pickups set at the same height. In the modding that i've done, pickups are the difference.
The way the Gibson sounds on both pickups was way better compared to the kit, like some added treble in there. Great vid overall, loved every second of it :)
I can assure you that my skill certainly doesnt reach that level of difference!
Also, they don't have the same pickups, so it's not a fair comparison
kinda sick of people saying the Gibson brand Les pauls are the "real thing".. they are not.. the real thing was built in the 50's-60's and those people who made them are ALL DEAD... nowadays gibson sells COPIES of the real thing made by different people on different machines of different materials.
Same I'm building me one now. Groovy 😎👍👌💯🎸🎸
The Gibson sounded brighter and more defined. The kit sounded darker, muffled in some areas but also warmer !!
Ok, I Will Say that I really listen to the difference, the thing is, that I do not hear $ 2800 difference. And that is the problem.
Yeah, weird.. Not a huge difference and the money saved, wow. And the kit isn’t even upgraded lol. Id never sell my Paul, save the money and buy a kit. Though, I’d totally do a kit.
the stock pickups from the kit guitar sounded warmer and just a bit muddier. i wonder what it would sound like once the pickups and electronics are upgraded
I have been so glad I realized years ago that the most important aspect of any guitar is the nut holding the strings.
Nice review. Clearly the GibLP sounded better as the kit was a little bit muddy. For the price difference; I’ll get over the ever so slight muddiest of the kit. In 1968, I opted for the tele over the strat and lp and never regretted my decision. However, the wind cries mary made me buy a used strat because I became enamored with Jimi. I could never get the strat sound from my tele. My friends were like why two guitars. I would reply, jimi hendrix and jimmy page.
I think the Les Paul sounded cleaner during the arpeggios while the kit guitar added warmth. During the first 3 tests I couldn't tell much difference.
The kit guitar looks amazing and i think it has a slightly warmer and smoother tone.
It's kind of a joke I like the $200 one better
Lol that's the whole issue. There is a faint difference and it probably isn't worth the price. But, between the hardware upgrades, the fact that skill was used building and playing this guitar, etc. If you're itching for a Gibson Les Paul standard, the cheapest way to scratch it is to save up.
Great three part video! It's great to see these comparisons and to know alot of it is the players hands. I own several high end guitars now I want a kit to build.
I got 2 of 3 right but thought the kit was very close
