Dude, my ears hurt like hell whenever I flew, and a few years ago I took a decongestion pill about an hour or two before my flight to see if it would help and it worked like a charm. I NEVER EVER fly without taking one anymore. Never had any ear problems any time I flew somewhere since, and yeah, I've been two both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, what a treat. Glad you and your kid feeling better. Cheers.
