I just started playing FFXIV and i gotta say it has the best PVE.
It's funny seeing this now that both Bellular and Asmongold have tried and liked FFXIV a lot. It's a good reminder that these people weren't fans from day 1. They were cautious and had a lot of criticisms and preconceptions from the game. Perfectly understandable ones, of course. But with time the game won them over. And that's a good thing. It shows you that not only people that liked FFXIV from the very beginning obsessed over the game. But even people that were critical in the beginning. That sounds like a good game to me

The thing asmon is saying about how FF 14 feels like a conspiracy against him and everyone is lying about enjoying the game... Well that's how people who don't wow feel about wow, its a game that looks like shit, doesn't handle very well and has bad writing. No one knows why anyone plays wow but wow players

Played FFXIV, got to level 40 but went back to WoW. FF felt like a weebs dream, I didn't like the art style, the dungeons were far to easy and it just didn't have the "feel" that WoW has.

The game was designed to run and support ps3's you need to realize that, they SUPPORT a 10+ year old console. They just recently stopped supporting the ps3 version and will eventually stop for the ps4 as well.

Rewatching this in retrospect, it's not surprising Asmon got so into the storytelling and narrative. He says here he's focused on gameplay, but that's only because he spent so much of his MMO gametime playing games with poor narrative arcs told by incompetent designers. It was great to watch his reactions as ARR shifted up through the gears and kept exceeding his expectations, and I'm glad he enjoyed the combat mechanics at the same time.
im looking at this retrospectively, and honestly, i think the reason why asmon didn't care at all about all these story elements is precisely because like the abusive spouse it is. wow did them terribly, so you would naturally just stop caring about those things because if you did care wow would become even worse to experience. its like when you are poor, you stop looking at or even consider buying really expensive commodities. because you cant afford it anyway, no need to torment yourself.

I fucking love walking been two npcs and clicking through boring dialogue. I made it to level 50, read every bit of dialogue when does this get good? This is like ff13 all over again
